Deildartunguhver is Europe's most powerful hot spring, located in the Western Region of Iceland, near the town of Reykholt. This geothermal marvel produces an astonishing 180 liters (47.5 gallons) of boiling water per second, with water temperatures reaching up to 100°C (212°F). The hot spring is known for its intense steam and bubbling water, which create an otherworldly atmosphere as the geothermal energy rises from the earth's depths.

Deildartunguhver's high output of hot water is harnessed for various uses, including heating homes and greenhouses in the nearby towns of Borgarnes and Akranes. The hot spring's unique environment supports a rare species of fern, the *Blechnum spicant*, which thrives in the warm and humid conditions created by the steam.

Visitors to Deildartunguhver can observe the powerful geothermal activity up close, with designated walkways providing safe viewing points. The nearby Krauma Geothermal Baths offer a relaxing experience, where visitors can soak in pools fed by the hot spring's waters, mixed with cooler water from the Rauðsgil mountain stream. This combination creates the perfect bathing temperature, making Krauma an ideal spot to unwind after exploring the hot spring.

Deildartunguhver is easily accessible by car and is a key stop on the Silver Circle route, which also includes the Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls.
